1986 Pontiac Sunbird SE, 1.8ltr Turbo Engine
Why is this year Pontiac Sunbird with a Turbo engine considered so rare and very difficult to find anywhere in the world? I do know there were only about 10,000 produced but where are they now? I haven't seen another one, and I have been looking, for the last 15 years.

I have had this 1986 Sunbird 1.8 Ltr, Turbo since 1987 with 156,000 miles on it and never had any major problems whatsoever. It still doesn't burn oil and the mileage is always between 20-23 MPG. It sure is a rare car and still in good shape.

James' answer is pretty much on the money. 10,000 of any model sold in a 14 million car market is a very low number. I had an '84 Sunbird conv with the 1.8 turbo engine and had no trouble with it for the 3 years I owned it. My son purchased a used '86 and had multiple problems including blowing the turbo seal while on a trip. $600 repair in 1992.
