Looking for Nice 1966 Skylark Convertible Body only
Unfortunately, my 1966 Skylark convertible has a very rusty body and, in particular, a bent cowl which I missed when I bought it. My error, very difficult to fix, I am told - read prohibitively expensive. Great mechanically, almost like new with only 60,000 miles. It looks decent with a recent repaint, and won't fall apart; but I would like to have a rust free unmolested body for it. Most of the rust is in the floor pan and trunk. The rear body mounts are gone. I don't care about the rest of the car if I find one, it can be in bad shape mechanically, just a good rust free body.
Any tips would be appreciated. My cousin had one almost like mine, cream color with a white top and white interior with bucket seats; and I'll always remember the vision of it rolling down the street, its spinner wheel covers glistening.
Thanks,
Bill

Wow. Gorgeous car--tough options ahead. We have a lot of Buick members on this forum, so you may find a body that way.
Personally, I might first try Marc Turnwiller of Annapolis, MD. Marc is really a collector of Cadillacs, but he dabbles in Skylarks from time to time. He's listed in the CLC directory--if you're a member of the Buick Club (if not, you should be!) call the main office and speak to Mike or Nancy Book. They'd have the number for Marc.
Also, there are some fantastic junkyards in OK and TX where you might find an ideal body to replace your 1966. Rick Smith in Longview, TX has a few Buicks. Anybody else have a favorite junkyard? You might put that out there as a post on this forum, i.e. "What's your favorite junkyard?" That would be a good one.
